Corn futures are showing midday gains of up to 3 cents as of Wednesday. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price increased by 2.25 cents to reach $5.01. Additionally, 203 deliveries against September corn were made overnight.
In the week ending August 28, the U.S. ethanol production averaged 1.11 million barrels per day, marking a slight decline of 2,000 bpd. Ethanol stocks dropped by 171,000 barrels to 25.036 million, while refiner inputs rose by 17,000 bpd to 940,000 bpd. Exports, however, decreased by 58,000 bpd to 104,000 bpd. USDA’s monthly Grain Crushing report showed that 474.7 million bushels of corn were used for ethanol in July, a year-over-year increase of 3.75%.
In Brazil, the first corn crop is now estimated at 29.3 million metric tons, up 0.5 million from previous estimates. Lastly, closing prices for September corn reached $5.22, Dec 2026 settled at $5.47.
