Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) saw its stock rise 6.55% on Wednesday, closing at $653.69, following the launch of its new AI agent, Muse. The product aims to facilitate online shopping, flight bookings, and calendar organization, potentially driving monetization for Meta. Trading volume reached 35.2 million shares, significantly above the three-month average of 17.8 million shares. Since its IPO in 2012, Meta’s stock has increased by 1,455%.
In contrast, the S&P 500 fell 0.48% to 7,636, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.64% to 26,253. Competitors like Alphabet and Snap also experienced declines, indicating softer sentiment in the digital advertising space despite Meta’s gains.
Morgan Stanley suggests that Muse could capture a significant share of the emerging AI agent market, estimated to be worth around $30 trillion. However, analysts caution that it is still early, urging investors to wait for clearer data on adoption and revenue before making decisions.
