Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) has announced an ambitious plan to refresh 80% of its North American vehicle portfolio by volume by 2029, including the introduction of the Fathom midsize pickup on its Universal Electric Vehicle platform. This update marks a significant shift in Ford’s product strategy aimed at enhancing vehicle performance and profitability.
Beyond vehicle refreshment, Ford is diversifying its business by re-entering the defense sector, securing a U.S. Department of Defense contract to develop heavy-duty tactical trucks and bidding for the U.K. Ministry of Defence’s $2.7 billion Light Mobility Vehicle program. Additionally, Ford Energy plans to produce 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems annually, anticipating $500 million to $600 million in annual operating profit by the end of the decade.
Ford’s current dividend is set at $0.60 per share annually, yielding approximately 4.1%. The company also has a history of issuing special dividends, with $0.18 per share in early 2024 and another $0.15 in February 2025, appealing to income-focused investors.
