Soybean Prices Decline on Wednesday Even with Strong Export Demand

Soybean futures fell on September 26, with contracts decreasing by 3 to 7 ¼ cents. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price dropped by 6 ¼ cents to $12.51. Soymeal futures saw modest gains, ranging from 20 cents to $1.80 in the front months, while soy oil was steady, closing 17 points lower.

The USDA reported private export sales of 340,000 metric tons (MT) of soybeans to China for the 2026/27 period, along with 100,000 MT to unknown destinations. Additionally, the recent Crop Progress data revealed steady condition ratings at 58% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index holding at 353.

Market analysts anticipate a reduction in yields, with the USDA set to release updated data on yield expectations, which Bloomberg surveys suggest could decrease by 0.3 bushels per acre (bpa) to 52.4 bpa. Production estimates are projected to fall by 27 million bushels (mbu) to 4.492 billion bushels (bbu).
