Ford Motor Company is set to invest $1 billion in a new paint shop at its Kentucky Truck Plant, with construction expected to begin by the end of 2023. This facility will replace the plant’s existing paint shop, aiming to enhance the quality and efficiency of operations. The Kentucky Truck Plant is Ford’s largest facility, where a vehicle is produced approximately every 45 seconds.
This investment is part of Ford’s broader $4 billion commitment to Kentucky, including approximately $2 billion for the Louisville Assembly Plant, which is being transformed into a hub for the company’s electric vehicle production. The anticipated changes at Louisville are expected to create around 2,200 jobs and enable the production of Ford’s upcoming midsize electric pickup, the Fathom, set to launch in 2027.
Additionally, Ford’s investment in Ford Energy Systems in Glendale will establish a large-scale battery energy storage systems facility, projected to create at least 2,100 jobs and achieve an annual production capacity of over 20 gigawatt-hours starting in late 2027. Ford’s contributions to Kentucky’s economy are substantial, with an estimated impact of over $33 billion annually, accounting for 11.7 billion of the state’s GDP.
