Key Facts on SpaceX and Nvidia’s Partnership
SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) has announced a strategic decision to exclusively use Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) hardware for its operations, citing the Vera Rubin architecture as the superior AI computing solution. This announcement was made by CEO Elon Musk during SpaceX’s second-quarter earnings call.
In the second quarter, SpaceX reported a remarkable 92% increase in revenue year-over-year, reaching $7.8 billion, with its AI division growing by 213%. However, the company still faces challenges with profitability, reporting an operating loss of $143 million. In contrast, Nvidia achieved a 106% revenue increase to $96.2 billion, with $63.7 billion in operating income, underscoring its dominant market position.
Nvidia’s revenue stream is over 12 times larger than SpaceX’s, yet SpaceX is valued at approximately $2 trillion compared to Nvidia’s $5.5 trillion market cap. Analysts anticipate SpaceX will generate $108 billion in revenue next year, pricing the stock at 18.5 times sales, while Nvidia is at 8.1 times sales, suggesting Nvidia may offer a more favorable investment opportunity.
