CarMax, Inc. (KMX) reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings of $1.16 per share, a significant 81.3% increase year over year, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 68 cents by 70.6%. Revenues rose 19.5% to $7.88 billion, also surpassing the consensus estimate of $7.06 billion by 11.5%, for the quarter ending August 31, 2026.
Retail used unit sales increased 13.8% to 227,391, and the average retail selling price rose by 6.3% to $27,623. CarMax’s wholesale vehicle sales reached $1.36 billion, up 18.2% year over year. The company ended the quarter with inventory valued at $3.85 billion and plans to resume share repurchases, having $1.31 billion remaining under its authorization.
CarMax Auto Finance income grew 32.1% to $135.6 million, supported by a reduced provision for loan losses. The company generated $900.5 million in net cash from operating activities in the first half of fiscal 2027, and its long-term debt totals $1.66 billion.
