**Alphabet Inc. launched a satellite carrying its AI chips today at 2:32 p.m. ET from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.** The satellite, nicknamed “MVP,” is designed to test whether Google’s chips, which help power its Gemini chatbot, can withstand the harsh conditions of space. If successful, this mission could pave the way for utilizing orbital space to host AI data centers, minimizing environmental concerns associated with terrestrial locations.

**According to Google’s estimates, solar panels in space could generate up to eight times more energy compared to those on Earth.** This experiment comes as Earth-based data centers face significant operational challenges, including rising power bills and community opposition, with $130 billion in projects blocked or delayed this year alone.

**Simultaneously, the memory chip manufacturer Micron reported a staggering 1,100% increase in data-center revenue year-over-year.** Despite this success, fears of a cyclical peak in the memory trade and rising 10-year Treasury yields, which shot up to 5.34% earlier today, led to a temporary sell-off in the broader market before stocks rebounded.
