AMD vs. Nvidia: A Comparative Analysis
As of 2026, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is experiencing significant stock price growth, rising approximately 125% this year and 300% since the beginning of 2025. In contrast, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has seen a more modest increase of 20% in 2026, with a 67% rise since 2025. However, Nvidia reported much stronger fiscal results for Q1 2027, with revenues increasing 85% year-over-year to $81.6 billion, and earnings per share climbing 214%. AMD’s revenue grew 50% to $11.5 billion with earnings per share up 156% in their most recent Q2 2026 report.
In the data center segment, a key growth driver, AMD’s growth was recorded at 107%, whereas Nvidia reported 92%. Despite AMD’s faster growth rate in this segment, Nvidia remains the larger and more profitable company overall. In terms of valuation, AMD trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 33, compared to Nvidia’s 17.6, indicating a higher market valuation for AMD despite its less impressive financial performance.
This disparity suggests that Nvidia may represent a better value stock moving forward, as analysts predict that AMD will need to significantly increase its earnings to align with its current stock price. The next Nvidia earnings report, due later this month, could further illustrate the divergence between these two companies.
