Spotify ended Q2 with 777 million monthly active users, a 12% increase year-over-year. The firm anticipates 305 million Premium subscribers in Q3 and projects average revenue per user to maintain growth, driven by a 7.4% increase excluding currency effects. However, the stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 32.08, higher than the industry average of 27.33, indicating potential risks if performance metrics fall short.
Looking ahead, third-quarter gross margin is estimated at 32.9%, and user additions are expected to slow down to 11 million. Additionally, planned marketing and AI expenses could add around €200 million by 2026, highlighting a need for sustained execution amid increasing competition from major players like Apple Music and Amazon Music.
