Nvidia’s Vera Server CPU Shipments Begin
Nvidia has commenced shipments of its Vera server CPUs, expanding its presence in the competitive server CPU market. The company has shipped “hundreds of thousands” of Grace stand-alone servers, building on its impressive total of over 2.5 million Grace units by May 2026. These efforts are bolstered by partnerships, including one with Meta Platforms, aimed at deploying Nvidia’s CPUs in AI data centers.
The Vera CPU boasts a 1.5x performance advantage over the Grace CPU and is 50% faster than chips based on the x86 architecture utilized by competitors Intel and AMD. Nvidia anticipates $20 billion in revenue from its Vera server CPUs within the current fiscal year, signifying a potential challenge to Intel and AMD’s market dominance.
As of Q4 2025, Arm architecture server CPUs held 13.2% of the overall market, with projections suggesting they could capture nearly 90% by 2029, primarily driven by Nvidia’s innovations. Meanwhile, Intel and AMD reported robust data center revenues of over $12 billion in their latest quarters, but Nvidia’s new offerings could significantly impact their growth trajectories.
