Key Updates on Apple’s AI Strategy

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is launching an updated version of its Mac Studio equipped with new M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, significantly enhancing AI performance, with claims of up to 4.3 times faster AI processing. The new Mac Studio models start at $2,499 and $5,499, respectively. This shift comes amid investor concerns regarding Apple’s commitment to artificial intelligence, as the company has not invested heavily in AI infrastructure like some of its competitors.

According to Apple’s Chief Hardware Officer Johny Srouji, the design prioritizes not only advanced AI capabilities but also improved graphics for demanding professional workloads. The device is said to feature up to 512 GB of unified memory and 1.2 TB of memory bandwidth, facilitating the local execution of large AI models, reducing reliance on cloud services and associated costs.

Apple’s approach has been scrutinized, with analysts suggesting that its hardware strengths may position it favorably in the AI landscape. Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani has reiterated a positive outlook for the company, maintaining a $365 price target in light of these developments.
