Disney+ and Hulu Subscription Prices Rise

Disney is increasing subscription prices for its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, by 4% to 13%, effective immediately. The new monthly rate for Disney+ without ads will be $21.49, up from $18.99, while Hulu Premium also sees a similar hike, now priced at $21.49. The ad-supported tiers will rise by just 4% to $12.49.

This price adjustment makes Disney+ and Hulu the most expensive traditional streaming services, surpassing Netflix and HBO Max. Disney’s strategic pricing aims to enhance profitability amid a challenging stock market, with the company reporting strong subscriber retention rates that could lead to record profits.

In a broader context, Disney joins other streaming giants like Apple and Comcast in raising prices this fall, reflecting a significant overall increase in streaming costs—up 81% since summer 2020—across several platforms.
