Cattle Gains Recovery on Wednesday

On June 26, live cattle futures closed up between $1.70 and $3.35, with the June contract at $251.425, up $3.200. Feeder cattle futures also gained, with August contracts closing at $354.625, up $5.175. The Wednesday Fed Cattle Exchange saw no sales for the 1,008 head offered, with bids at $255.

Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were mixed, with Choice boxes up $1.82 to $394.72, while Select was down $1.01 at $389.29. The USDA estimated federally inspected cattle slaughter at 110,000 head for Wednesday, totaling 222,000 head for the week, a decrease of 20,284 head compared to the same week last year.
