Live cattle futures experienced losses ranging from 10 to 67 cents, with cash trade recorded at $403 dressed in the north and live trade at $255-256 for the week. Feeder cattle futures showed mixed results, with August contracts rising 15 cents, while other contracts fell between 47 cents and $2.85. The CME Feeder Cattle Index increased $2.08 to $373.19.
The NASS Crop Progress report revealed that US pasture ratings stand at 33% good/excellent, a decrease of 1% from the previous week. USDA reported a federally inspected cattle slaughter of 110,000 head for Tuesday, bringing the weekly total to 210,000 head, which is 4,000 lower than the previous week and 21,970 below the same week last year. Choice wholesale boxed beef prices dropped by 71 cents to $385.77.
