Cocoa prices are experiencing upward momentum, with September ICE NY cocoa rising by 1.84% to $104 and September London cocoa up 0.10% to $4. This price shift comes amid a 0.3% decline in the dollar index, positively impacting commodities.

As of this week, cumulative data from the Ivory Coast indicates that farmers have shipped 2.11 million metric tons (MMT) of cocoa in the current marketing year, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. However, rising ICE cocoa inventories recently peaked at a two-year high of 3,384,965 bags before decreasing to 3,335,656 bags.

Ghana’s cocoa regulator forecasts a significant drop in production for 2026/27, estimating yields between 450,000 MT and 550,000 MT due to various adverse factors. Conversely, the current marketing year’s production is strong, with 750,000 MT harvested so far, representing a 25.6% increase compared to the last season.
