Corn Futures Rally to Finish Strong on Thursday

Corn futures experienced modest gains on Thursday, with most contracts rising between ½ to 2 ¾ cents. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price increased by 1 ¾ cents, reaching $4.20 per bushel.

Export sales data for the week ending April 16 reported 1.316 million metric tons (MMT) of corn sold, marking a three-week low but still 14.2% higher than the same week last year. South Korea led imports with 345,700 MT, followed by Japan at 324,200 MT and unknown destinations at 233,600 MT. New crop sales reached 440,110 MT, the second highest for the marketing year, all directed to Mexico.

As per the International Grains Council, global corn production has decreased by 3 MMT from last month, resulting in a reduction of ending stocks for 2026/27 to 292 MMT.
