Corn futures rose significantly on Sunday night, with midday gains of 11 to 12.5 cents. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price increased by 12.5 cents to $4.67.
In the week ending August 20, the Export Inspections report recorded corn shipments at 1.296 million metric tons (MMT), down 33.32% from the previous week and 3.16% below the same week last year. Major destinations included Mexico (387,748 MT), Japan (306,842 MT), and Colombia (101,360 MT). The total corn exports for the marketing year reached 82.28 MMT, 25.51% ahead of last year’s figures.
Pro Farmer’s Crop Tour estimates the U.S. national yield at 173.2 bushels per acre, projecting production at 15.344 billion bushels. As of Thursday, 92% of the second corn crop for 2025/26 was harvested, trailing the average of 98%, while 2% of the first corn crop for 2026/27 was planted, falling short of the previous year’s 3.2%.
