Corn futures experienced declines on Thursday, with July contracts falling 7 cents to close at $4.27¾. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price also decreased by 3¼ cents, reaching $4.01¾.
According to the USDA’s Export Sales report, old crop corn bookings totaled 565,810 metric tons (MT) for the week ending July 2, marking a 55.2% drop compared to the same week last year. Mexico was the leading buyer with 168,900 MT, followed by Japan at 162,900 MT and Colombia with 149,800 MT. New crop sales were reported at 401,667 MT, down 44.8% from the same week in 2025.
The monthly WASDE report is set for release on Friday, with analysts anticipating a reduction in old crop U.S. corn stocks by 66 million bushels to 2.079 billion bushels. New crop carryout is expected to decline by 61 million bushels to 1.899 billion bushels.
