Corn futures rose on September 13, with September futures up 1 ¾ cents to $5.12 and December futures closing at $5.33 ¼, a gain of 3 cents. The national average cash corn price increased by 3 ¼ cents, reaching $4.87.
The USDA’s Crop Progress report indicated that 86% of the U.S. corn crop was dented, with 42% mature and 8% harvested. Condition ratings improved to 57% rated good to excellent. In terms of export, corn shipments totaled 1.525 million metric tons (MMT) for the week ending September 10, an 8.91% decline from the previous week. The largest importers were Mexico (478,113 MT), South Korea (275,525 MT), and Japan (207,502 MT).
In Brazil, the 2026/27 corn crop was reported 22% planted, ahead of last year’s 17%. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s corn crop is estimated at 32.3 MMT, a 2.5 MMT increase, with anticipated exports of 22 MMT for the marketing year.
