Wheat Market Sees Varied Performance on Monday

As of September 10, 93% of the U.S. spring wheat crop has been harvested, surpassing the normal pace by 1%. However, winter wheat planting is lagging at only 8% complete, 4 percentage points below the five-year average. In the wheat market, Chicago SRW contracts closed mixed, with December contracts down 3 ¼ cents at $7.22, and March contracts down 2 cents at $7.39 ¼.

The latest weekly Export Inspections report indicates wheat shipments at 456,720 metric tons (16.78 million bushels) for the week of September 10, a decrease of 5.9% from the prior week and 39.78% from the same week last year. Japan was the top destination, receiving 118,788 MT, followed by Mexico with 111,415 MT and Thailand with 93,003 MT. Cumulative shipments for the marketing year stand at 5.676 million metric tons (208.54 million bushels), representing a 27.78% decline compared to last year.

APK-Inform projects the Ukrainian wheat crop for 2026/27 at 25 million metric tons, a 2.4 million metric ton increase from previous estimates, with anticipated exports at 10.5 million metric tons for the marketing year.
