Corn futures saw midday gains of 3 to 4 cents on Friday, with the CmdtyView national average cash corn price rising to $4.12 1/4. The USDA announced a private export sale of 286,097 metric tons of corn to Mexico, including 29,808 MT for 2026/27 and 256,289 MT for 2027/28.
Ahead of the upcoming August Crop Production report, a Reuters survey estimates a yield of 182.4 bushels per acre, with a total production of 15.934 billion bushels expected. Current old crop corn commitments stand at 87.09 million metric tons, 23% higher than last year and exceeding USDA forecasts for 2025/26. New crop sales are at 9.65 million metric tons, lagging last year’s pace by 18.1%.
In global markets, Brazil’s corn exports in July totaled 1.943 million metric tons, down 21.16% from the previous year. South Korea has also secured a tender for 134,000 metric tons of corn overnight.
