US Corn Planting Progress
Recent Crop Progress data indicates that 78% of the US corn crop has been planted, aligning with trade estimates. This figure surpasses the 73% average pace and is ahead of last year’s 67%. However, several states showed slower progress, including Illinois (-3%), Kentucky (-11%), Ohio (-12%), and Tennessee (-3%). Emergence stands at 50%, compared to the typical pace of 40%.
Weather Conditions Impacting Planting
The weather forecast for the next week suggests light rain coverage in parts of the Western Corn Belt (WCB), with lesser rainfall expected in Nebraska and Iowa, but heavier totals in the East. This may complicate planting efforts, particularly in Ohio, where only 34% is completed.
