On September 8, 2026, Corning Incorporated and Verizon Communications Inc. announced a multi-year supply agreement for over 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber, set to run from 2027 through 2032. This agreement will enhance Verizon’s broadband capabilities and establish Corning as a key partner in meeting the demand for modern enterprise network infrastructure.

The partnership extends a 30-year relationship and addresses Verizon’s goal of expanding residential broadband access from 32 million to between 40 million and 50 million broadband passings. The deployment aims to support long-haul transport routes for artificial intelligence workloads and improve fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) capabilities, enhancing overall connectivity across the U.S.

Corning’s innovative Contour Flow Cable technology minimizes space requirements, allowing for increased fiber capacity without new civil excavation. The deal is part of a broader initiative in which Corning has secured major agreements with companies like Meta and NVIDIA, showcasing its shift towards enterprise communications and positioning in the growing AI infrastructure market.
