Cotton Prices Remain Steady on Thursday

Cotton futures experienced mixed trade on Thursday, August 24, with prices ranging from a decline of 10 points to an increase of 44 points. Crude oil prices rose by $2.32, while the US dollar index increased by $0.054.

During the week of August 13, export sales reached a total of 209,360 running bales (RB) for the 2026/27 crop year. Vietnam was the leading buyer with 55,400 RB, followed by Pakistan at 51,900 RB. New crop sales totaled 64,856 RB, primarily to El Salvador at 35,100 RB. Shipments that week amounted to 222,046 RB, with Vietnam as the top destination at 66,800 RB.

The Cotlook A Index declined by 10 points to 95.90 cents on August 23. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady at 70,643 bales as of August 19. The Adjusted World Price was increased by 143 points to 69.62 cents per pound. Closing prices for October, December, and March cotton futures were 87.02, 88.34, and 90.08 cents, respectively.
