Cotton futures increased by 20 to 36 points on Monday, with May 2026 closing at 77.6, July 2026 at 80.04, and December 2026 at 80.76. As of April 19, 11% of the U.S. cotton crop had been planted, surpassing the 5-year average of 10%.
The Seams reported 1,783 bales sold on April 17 at an average price of 74.86 cents per pound, while the Cotlook A Index rose by 75 points to 87.35 cents. Additionally, ICE-certified cotton stocks increased by 2,600 bales, reaching a total of 164,967 bales. The Adjusted World Price also climbed 287 points on Thursday, settling at 61.61 cents per pound.
The U.S. dollar index fell by $0.053 to $97.845, and crude oil prices rose by $3.95 by midday.
