Soybean Market Faces Challenges on Thursday

On Thursday, soybeans reported losses ranging from 1 to 5 cents, with the cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price falling by 5 1/4 cents to $10.96. Soymeal futures increased by 90 cents to $1.00, while Soy Oil futures dropped by 42 to 54 points.

The USDA’s weekly Export Sales report indicated that 364,633 metric tons (MT) of old crop bean sales were recorded for the week ending April 16, well above last year’s figures and surpassing trade expectations of 200,000 to 600,000 MT. In contrast, sales for the 2025/26 crop year were minimal at 5,000 MT. Meal sales totaled 162,339 MT, while bean oil sales were recorded at 1,526 MT.

According to the International Grains Council, global soybean production is projected to decrease by 1 million metric tons (MMT) for 2026/27, despite an increase in consumption by 2 MMT. Ending stocks are estimated at 79 MMT, a reduction of 4 MMT.
