Cotton Prices Rise on Monday

Cotton futures rose 36 to 62 points across most contracts on Monday, with July 26 cotton closing at 76.64 cents, up 49 points. As of May 31, the USDA’s NASS Crop Progress report indicated that 66% of the U.S. cotton crop was planted, slightly below the normal pace, while the crop was 7% squared, aligning with the average schedule.

The Seam reported sales of 1,730 bales at an average price of 74.18 cents per pound on Friday. Additionally, the Cotlook A Index increased by 60 points, reaching 86.70 cents on May 29, and ICE certified cotton stocks rose by 12,477 bales to total 237,993 bales. The Adjusted World Price fell by 519 points to 63.49 cents per pound on Thursday.
