Tesla CEO Elon Musk Approaches 20% Voting Control
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), has increased his voting power in the company to approximately 20%, up from 13%. Musk originally expressed the need for 25% voting control to confidently lead Tesla into its new direction focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. He stated that owning this threshold would allow him to influence company decisions while reducing the risk of takeover by unsavory interests.
As of now, Tesla’s stock has risen 51% since Musk’s 2024 comments, trailing the S&P 500, which has seen a 62% increase over the same period. With key projects like the Optimus robot still in limited production and self-driving services in testing phases, shareholders face pivotal decisions about the company’s future amidst this transition.
