Tesla Expands Robotaxi Service
Tesla has launched its robotaxi ridesharing services in Dallas and Houston, bringing its total to four U.S. cities, along with Austin and San Francisco. CEO Elon Musk anticipates expanding to dozens of cities by the end of 2026, contingent on regulatory approval.
According to Morgan Stanley, the market for robotaxis in the U.S. could be valued at over $1 trillion, with potential revenues of $250 to $500 billion annually at 25% penetration. In Q1 2026, Tesla reported 358,023 vehicle deliveries, falling short of Wall Street expectations by approximately 12,000 units.
Despite current challenges, including an 18% stock decline, Musk remains optimistic about the future financial impact of autonomous ridesharing, projecting significant growth opportunities in artificial intelligence and robotics.
