Tesla’s Robotaxi Service Approved in Nevada
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has received approval from the Nevada Transportation Authority to launch a robotaxi service in the state, allowing for the operation of 5,000 autonomous taxis. This is a significant expansion compared to its competitors, Alphabet’s Waymo and Aviari, who were recently approved for only 1,000 vehicles.
The approved service comes after several missed targets from CEO Elon Musk, who previously forecasted widespread autonomous ride hailing across the U.S. by late 2025. Regulatory delays have contributed to the slower rollout, yet the approval in Nevada represents a crucial step for Tesla’s long-term growth strategy, with the global robotaxi market potentially valued at $10 trillion in the future.
