Tesla has received its largest order to date for the all-electric Class 8 Semi, with Swedish trucking firm Einride ordering 500 units. The trucks are set to be integrated into Einride’s Saga AI fleet intelligence platform and will be deployed across California, New Jersey, Texas, Illinois, and Georgia, servicing major clients including Amazon. The initial deliveries are expected to commence in September, with subsequent deliveries occurring over the next two years.
This order will increase Einride’s electric truck fleet from approximately 250 to 750 vehicles and is projected to generate up to $800 million in annual recurring revenue from shipper agreements. The deal represents a significant milestone for Tesla as it continues to navigate challenges in scaling production of the Semi, which has faced delays since its introduction in 2017.
In related developments, another U.S. company, WattEV, recently placed an order for 370 Semis, highlighting growing confidence in Tesla’s electric truck among freight operators. Despite past delays, the expanding interest may signal a turning point for the company in the commercial trucking sector.
