Marvell Technology Shares Surge Following AI Infrastructure Announcement
Shares of Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL) rose 6.2% on Monday at 1:30 p.m. EDT, driven by a sector-wide rally in semiconductor stocks. This uptick follows OpenAI’s commitment to invest in a 4.25-gigawatt data center in Ohio, potentially costing between $38 billion and $60 billion. The announcement underlines the escalating demand for AI computing, benefiting several U.S. semiconductor firms, including Marvell.
Analysts from UBS and GF Securities provided positive commentary on Marvell ahead of its earnings report on August 27. UBS’s Timothy Arcuri highlighted increased capital expenditure from hyperscalers and growth potential in Marvell’s custom AI chip business with Microsoft, while GF’s Alicia Yap noted the significance of Marvell’s optical networking technology amidst Nvidia’s new product launch.
Currently, Marvell’s stock trades at about 59 times projected 2027 earnings, reflecting robust growth opportunities in the AI sector despite high valuations.
