Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) announced at CES 2023 its commitment to achieving Level 3, eyes-off driving technology on its new Universal Electric Vehicle platform by 2028, with the first vehicle priced around $30,000 expected by 2027. In its recent Q2 report, Ford revealed adjusted EBIT of $2.5 billion, a significant increase from $2.1 billion year-over-year, prompting an upward revision of its full-year profit projections to between $10 billion and $11 billion. The commercial segment contributed $1.7 billion, despite challenges from material supply disruptions.

While the company reported a net loss of $1.3 billion due to special charges, it continues to support its $0.60 annual dividend. The autonomy program, now integrated with its existing business model, has yet to factor in significant market value, indicating a potential growth opportunity if the 2028 goal is met, especially as legacy competitors do not offer similar price points for such technology.
