The S&P 500 index saw significant options trading on October 17, 2023, particularly for Alphabet Inc (GOOGL), Amazon.com Inc (AMZN), and Palantir Technologies Inc (PLTR). GOOGL experienced trading of 257,366 contracts, approximately 25.7 million underlying shares, equating to 91.9% of its average daily trading volume of 28 million shares. The notable $400 strike call option expiring May 15, 2026, had 33,185 contracts traded, representing about 3.3 million shares.

AMZN recorded a trading volume of 376,242 contracts, around 37.6 million underlying shares, or 81.2% of its average daily trading volume of 46.3 million shares. The $265 strike call option expiring on the same date saw 37,553 contracts traded, accounting for approximately 3.8 million shares.

Additionally, PLTR’s options trading reached 358,862 contracts, translating to 35.9 million underlying shares, or 79.3% of its average daily trading volume of 45.3 million shares. The $135 strike call option expiring May 15, 2026, recorded 29,516 contracts traded, representing about 3.0 million shares.
