Berkshire Hathaway’s Portfolio Update

Since Warren Buffett’s retirement as CEO on December 31, 2022, Greg Abel has made significant changes to Berkshire Hathaway’s $358 billion investment portfolio, highlighted in the latest 13F filing for Q2 2023. Notably, Berkshire reduced its stake in Bank of America by 30,230,000 shares, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of declines, totaling a 53% reduction or nearly 549.5 million shares.

In contrast, Berkshire’s investment in Alphabet (Google’s parent company) has intensified, making it the third-largest holding with a combined market value of approximately $36.6 billion after accumulating 24,541,369 Class A shares and 23,603,218 Class C shares. Alphabet’s robust growth, particularly in artificial intelligence and cloud services with an 82% year-over-year increase, underscores its appeal to Abel.
