Hogs Experience Varied Trading Trends This Friday Afternoon

On Friday, August 4, lean hog futures displayed mixed trade, with contracts fluctuating between a decrease of $0.05 to an increase of $0.40 by midday. The USDA reported the national base hog price at $975.75, while the CME Lean Hog Index decreased by $0.29 to $96.66.

The USDA’s pork carcass cutout value rose by $2.19 to $101.45, with all primals noted as higher. An estimated 482,000 hogs were federally inspected on Thursday, bringing the weekly total to 1.862 million head, which is 54,000 above the previous week and 25,831 more than the same week last year.
