Oklo Advances Nuclear Power Solutions for Data Centers
Oklo, a developer of next-generation microreactors, is responding to increasing demand for nuclear energy, with a focus on modern data centers. On August 7, during its earnings call, CFO Craig Bealmear highlighted the impending “unconstrained demand” for power driven by artificial intelligence (AI) clusters and companies like Meta Platforms.
Earlier this year, Oklo signed a master agreement with Meta to support its 1.2-gigawatt (GW) campus in Ohio, which could host up to 16 Aurora powerhouses. Oklo aims to bring the first phase online by 2030 and is also investing in a facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to recycle spent nuclear fuel into reactor-grade fuel.
Currently, Oklo has $3 billion in liquidity, although its flagship reactor is not expected to start until 2028. The company plans to operate independently, developing power solutions adjacent to data centers or industrial hubs to secure long-term power purchase agreements.
