Corning and Nvidia Partnership
Corning (NYSE: GLW) has announced a multi-year partnership with Nvidia that could lead to an investment of up to $3.2 billion. This collaboration aims to enhance U.S. manufacturing of optical components for AI data centers, resulting in a projected 10x increase in Corning’s U.S.-based optical connectivity manufacturing capacity and over a 50% boost in fiber production capacity. The deal is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs across new facilities in North Carolina and Texas.
In exchange, Nvidia has invested $500 million upfront for 3 million pre-funded warrants and holds the option to acquire up to 15 million additional shares at $180 each. This partnership comes as Corning reported first-quarter 2026 sales growth of 18% year over year to $4.35 billion, with optical communications sales up 36% to $1.85 billion. Corning aims for a $20 billion annualized sales run rate by the end of 2026, projecting a revenue stream of $10 billion from its photonics business by 2030.
