Nvidia Announces Record Share Repurchase Authorization
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has authorized an additional $150 billion under its share repurchase program, boosting its total authorization to $235 billion, the largest increase in history. The announcement was made on September 28, coinciding with nearly $20 billion in share repurchases in the most recent quarter. This new authorization is expected to be fully utilized through fiscal year 2028.
As of September 28, Nvidia’s stock traded approximately 3% higher, reflecting strong market confidence. The $235 billion authorization represents about 4.3% of Nvidia’s market capitalization, allowing for over $39 billion in quarterly repurchases over the next six quarters.
Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang attributed this move to the company’s robust growth driven by advancements in AI and accelerated computing, emphasizing the firm’s capacity to invest in transformative technologies while returning capital to shareholders.
