Nvidia’s Financial Overview

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has distributed approximately $6.2 billion in dividends and conducted nearly $40 billion in share buybacks in 2023. The company’s quarterly dividend was raised from $0.01 to $0.25 in May, marking a 2,400% increase, with the next payment scheduled for October 1. Despite this substantial raise, the dividend yield is only 0.44%.

On November 30, 2022, when OpenAI launched ChatGPT, Nvidia’s shares were priced at around $16.87 and have skyrocketed to approximately $225, yielding a 1,230% gain for those who invested $10,000 at that time. However, Nvidia remains primarily focused on buybacks rather than being a dividend stock, with plans to return over 50% of free cash flow to shareholders.

The company reported $243 million in dividend payouts during Q1 2027 before the increase, which subsequently jumped to $6 billion in Q2. Nvidia’s current buyback authorization stands at $99 billion, indicating a significant commitment to reducing share count and boosting earnings per share.
