**Baron Capital’s Bold Bet on SpaceX**
Ron Baron, founder of Baron Capital, has heavily invested in Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), building a stake worth $1.7 billion since 2017, when the company was still private. Baron predicts that if SpaceX successfully raises $70 billion, his investment could potentially grow to $24 billion. The company recently raised nearly $86 billion, reflecting strong investor interest and a market cap of around $2 trillion.
**Expectations for Starlink’s Growth**
Baron is particularly optimistic about SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service, expecting it to generate annual revenues of $1 trillion within a decade, with an estimated value of $14 trillion. He believes SpaceX will have about 100,000 satellites in orbit to meet rising data demands. Additionally, he anticipates that advancements in artificial intelligence and potential orbital data centers could significantly enhance SpaceX’s profitability.
**Long-term Predictions Amid Challenges**
Baron believes that SpaceX could see its value increase 10 to 30 times over the next 10 to 15 years, with a $50,000 investment potentially worth up to $1.5 million. However, he acknowledges the necessity for the company to operationalize its heavy-lift Starship rocket and demonstrate the feasibility of new ventures to realize these ambitious projections.
