Soybean prices fell slightly by 4 cents across most contracts on Thursday, with the national average cash price reported at $12.59, an increase of 1/4 cents. Soymeal futures declined by up to 30 cents, while Soy Oil dropped 8 to 32 points. The USDA also reported a private export sale of 120,000 metric tons (MT) of soybeans to China for the 2026/27 marketing year.
Export sales data released by the USDA showed total soybean sales at 582,432 MT for the week of September 17, well below analysts’ estimates of 1.5 to 2 million MT, marking a 12-week low and a 19.6% decrease compared to the same week last year. Key buyers included China, acquiring 311,800 MT, Japan with 66,000 MT, and the Netherlands with 59,700 MT.
In related trading, November 2026 soybeans closed at $13.17 1/2, down 1/2 cent, while nearby cash prices rose to $12.59. January 2027 soybeans closed at $13.32, down 1 3/4 cents, and March 2027 soybeans ended at $13.39 3/4, down 2 3/4 cents.
