Soybean Prices Rise in August Despite Declining Condition Ratings

**Soybean Market Update – September 26, 2023**

Soybean futures closed steady to 7 cents higher on Monday, with the cmdtyView national average cash price rising by 1/4 cent to $12.53 1/2 per bushel. The USDA reported a private export sale of 159,000 metric tons for the 2026/27 year and noted that 95% of the U.S. soybean crop is currently setting pods. As of August 30, 58% of the soybean crop was rated good to excellent, down 2% from the previous week.

Additionally, the EPA announced 18 small refinery exemptions for 2025, totaling 1.76 million Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), with an exemption reallocation for 2026 and 2027. USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service reported soybean export shipments of 250,801 metric tons for the week ending August 27, marking a 41.7% decline from the previous week and 49% down from the same period last year.
