As of today, the S&P 500 Index is up 0.04%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by 0.32%. Conversely, the Nasdaq 100 Index is down 0.07%. September E-mini S&P futures are up 0.02%, and E-mini Nasdaq futures have decreased by 0.11%. The stock indices showed mixed performance following a drop in crude oil prices from an overnight increase of 2%, which led to lower bond yields.
WTI crude oil prices initially surged over 2% but fell back as reports emerged of advanced negotiations between Oman and Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Comments from T-note yields showed a decline, currently at 4.68%, down 2 basis points. Analysts project the S&P 500 will report nearly 32% earnings growth for Q2, significantly above the projected 23%, driven largely by AI infrastructure investments.
International markets also reflect mixed movement, with Europe’s Euro Stoxx 50 index up 0.40%, while China’s Shanghai Composite closed down 0.82%. Japan’s Nikkei-225 was closed due to a holiday.
