Berkshire Hathaway Enters New Era with CEO Transition
Warren Buffett, the longtime CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA, NYSE: BRKB), retired on December 31, 2025, handing over leadership to Greg Abel, his former understudy. Buffett led the company for over 50 years, during which it reached a market capitalization of $1 trillion. Abel, who has been with Berkshire for 25 years, will oversee daily operations and manage an investment portfolio worth $320 billion.
Under Abel’s leadership, Berkshire’s investment strategy remains focused on value, with its top 10 holdings, including Apple ($60 billion) and American Express ($49 billion), comprising 79% of its total investments. Moreover, the company maintains 20 additional positions worth over $1 billion each, emphasizing sustainable competitive advantages in sectors such as finance and consumer goods.
