Key Facts on Ford Motor Company’s New Initiatives
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is launching Ford Energy, an initiative aimed at generating a new revenue stream through energy storage systems, targeting an annual production capacity of approximately 20 gigawatt hours by 2027. Analysts forecast this venture could bring in $500 million to $600 million in run-rate earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT). Following the announcement, Ford’s stock surged 13%, marking its largest one-day gain since March 2020, with its market capitalization rising from around $50 billion to approximately $60 billion.
Additionally, Ford’s commercial division, Ford Pro, is seeing significant success, with reported EBIT of $6.8 billion at a margin of 10.3%, far exceeding the traditional retail business’s EBIT of $3.02 billion at a 3% margin. Ford Pro subscription services are growing rapidly, with a 30% increase in subscriptions over the past year, reaching 879,000 paid subscriptions by the end of Q1 2025. This evolution positions Ford to become a stronger player in the high-margin software and energy sectors.
