Super Micro Computer (SMCI) reported preliminary Q4 financial results exceeding Wall Street expectations, projecting revenue between $11 billion and $12.5 billion. However, gross margins are projected to surge from 8% to approximately 15%-17%. The company secured over $60 billion in new orders, boosting its backlog to a record high. Following this announcement, SMCI shares surged more than 20% in midday trading on Wednesday.

OpenAI announced an increase in projected compute spending through 2030 to $750 billion, up from a previous forecast of $600 billion, citing continued robust demand for AI infrastructure. Additionally, OpenAI is investing $20 billion in a 3.2GW data center in Georgia, marking its first in-house development.

Anthropic, the parent company of Claude, plans to purchase up to 2 gigawatts of AMD’s next-generation MI450 chips as part of a partnership, alongside AMD’s commitment of up to $5 billion in investments contingent on meeting deployment milestones.
