The wheat market saw gains on Wednesday, with Chicago SRW contracts closing up 1.5 to 6.5 cents. KC HRW futures increased between 1 to 5 cents, while MPLS spring wheat rose 2.5 to 7.5 cents. Upcoming Export Sales data, due Thursday, is projected to show bookings of 150,000 to 500,000 MT for the week ending September 10.
According to Stats Canada, Canadian wheat production for 2026/27 is estimated at 36.12 million metric tons (MMT), a decrease of 10.9% from last year, with spring wheat dropping to 26.452 MMT. FranceAgriMer revised French wheat exports outside the EU to 6.3 MMT, down by 0.7 MMT, while exports within the EU were adjusted to 7.1 MMT, down 0.3 MMT. Ukrainian winter wheat acreage for 2027 is estimated at 4.5 million hectares (11.12 million acres), a decline of 200,000 hectares from the previous year.
SovEcon forecasts that combined wheat exports from Russia and Ukraine will total 8 MMT between July and September, significantly lower than the 16.4 MMT recorded in the same period last year.
