Meta AI Chip Production Announcement

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is set to begin production of its in-house AI chip, code-named “Iris,” in September, in partnership with Broadcom for design and TSMC for manufacturing. This initiative aims to enhance Meta’s computing capabilities, with plans to deploy 7 gigawatts of computing capacity by the end of 2023 and double that to 14 gigawatts by 2027.

For 2026, Meta anticipates capital expenditures between $125 billion and $145 billion. The company’s revenue for Q1 2026 rose 33% year-over-year to $56.3 billion, with an operating margin of 41%. These developments highlight Meta’s significant investment in AI infrastructure, despite the associated high costs.
